SAN FRANCISCO – February 28, 2023 – The OpenJS Foundation, providing vendor-neutral support for sustained growth within the open source JavaScript community, is announcing today that Living Spec has joined as a silver member.

Living Spec is a startup, co-founded by Dylan Schiemann and Nemanja Tosic in 2020. Schiemann was an original co-founder of the Dojo Foundation in 2005, and continued through with the JS Foundation and now the OpenJS Foundation. Living Spec aims to keep product specifications current as a focal point for effective collaboration. It was created to adapt to many environments, helping individuals, teams, and organizations carry projects forward with features like a Collaborative Document TreeBi-directional IntegrationsReusable Snippets, amongst many others.

“The Living Spec team brings an incredible level of experience to the OpenJS ecosystem. They have lived and breathed JavaScript tools and workflows, from leveraging cutting-edge features to scaling JavaScript for everyday operations.” said Robin Ginn, OpenJS Foundation Executive Director. “We look forward to continuing our collaboration, and together raising our standards for the community.”

Living Spec is committed to bettering the open source community. Composed of a team of software engineers, managers, and consultants with substantial experience building consumer and enterprise software in the JavaScript ecosystem.

“Living Spec is all JavaScript all the time, and we rely on Node.js and other OpenJS projects such as Mocha and Express,” said Nemanja Tosic, CTO and Co-founder. “The OpenJS Foundation has a track record of raising awareness and supporting standards such as TC39, making it a natural fit.

“We are so happy to have joined the OpenJS Foundation at this stage of our company. I personally have been involved with the JavaScript community for over 25 years, and open source JavaScript foundations for 18 years since first founding the Dojo Foundation,” said Dylan Schiemann, CEO and Co-founder. “Joining the foundation came as an essential decision to further support our mission to provide the best collaboration tools for teams who use JavaScript.”
