The OpenJS Foundation, providing vendor-neutral support for sustained growth within the open source JavaScript community, is excited to welcome Appwrite as our newest silver member.
Appwrite is an open-source backend-as-a-service (BaaS) platform designed to help developers build secure and scalable applications quickly. It provides a set of APIs and tools that allow developers to handle common backend tasks, such as authentication, database management, file storage, and more, without needing to build and manage these features from scratch.
“Appwrite developers love their developer-friendly approach, extensive documentation, and active community support – we proudly welcome them to the OpenJS Foundation,” said OpenJS Foundation Executive Director Robin Bender Ginn. “We look forward to their continued contributions to our JavaScript communities.”
Appwrite can be used to quickly set up backend services for various types of applications and their real-time database and subscriptions make it suitable for applications that require live updates, like chat apps or collaborative tools.
“Appwrite joining the OpenJS Foundation marks a significant milestone in our journey to empower developers with open-source tools that simplify backend development,” said Eldad Fux, Founder and CEO of Appwrite. “This collaboration will strengthen our commitment to open-source innovation, community-driven growth, and providing developers with the freedom to build scalable, secure applications with ease. As an open-source company at our core, we are deeply committed to supporting the open-source ecosystem, ensuring that developers have access to the tools and resources they need to succeed”
