JSConf brand and JS logo and wordmark contributed to OpenJS
We are thrilled to announce that JSConf, the legendary JavaScript conference, is making the OpenJS Foundation its official home. In a significant move, Chris Williams, the visionary behind JSConf, is contributing the JSConf trademark, including the JS logo and wordmark, to OpenJS. This marks the next chapter for JSConf as it officially comes under the OpenJS umbrella. We plan to fully embrace its unique, experiential vibe in a standalone event next year.
OpenJS is committed to being responsible stewards of the JS trademark, representing millions of developers worldwide who make JavaScript the leading programming language, as confirmed by multiple surveys.
JSConf has always been more than just an event — it's a movement. Unlike traditional conferences, JSConf is for developers who believe in creating technical events that are anything but ordinary. We don't follow a one-size-fits-all model. Instead, we push the boundaries of what's possible with JavaScript while fostering deep connections among attendees, and we also will continue to support JSConf events worldwide.
“After nearly a decade, it's exhilarating to see OpenJS bring JSConf to a whole new generation, and I’m ecstatic to be a part of it,” said Chris Williams, founder of JSConf. “The energy and innovation in the JavaScript community has only exponentiated, and we're excited to once again create a space where ideas can be shared, friendships forged, and the future of web development spotlighted.”
Our mission is simple yet powerful: to make the technology community better, more diverse, and more human. We don't just focus on what's trending; we explore topics that will define and revolutionize the future of technology. Over the years, JSConf has been the launchpad for groundbreaking products, services, and technologies and has inspired a wide range of conferences that share our commitment to excellence.
“We're thrilled to see JSConf making its return. This event has always been a cornerstone for the JavaScript community, fostering collaboration and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible,” said OpenJS Foundation Executive Director Robin Bender Ginn. “Its revival is a testament to the enduring passion and creativity of developers worldwide.”
As we look forward to rebranding OpenJS World to JSConf next year, we invite you to join us in this exciting journey. Stay tuned for more updates on time and location. And if you have the chance, be sure to attend one of the incredible JSConf-inspired events happening near you. Together, let's continue to push the boundaries and make the tech community better for everyone.
From the Community
“JSConf US in 2009 was pivotal in bringing together the JavaScript community which was previously splintered across a wide web-adjacent technology spectrum. At the same time JSConf presented a novel people-first approach to conference organization that spawned a global movement. After years of COVID-related conference hiatuses I couldn't be more excited that the torch is being picked up for the next generation of JS developers to come together IRL and experience the magic of meeting the people behind the X and discord avatars!” – Malte Ubl, CTO at Vercel, Curator at JSConf EU.
"JSConf has long been a valuable staple in the JavaScript Open Source community, I'm excited to see its stewardship continue in the capable hands of the OpenJS Foundation." – Sarah Drasner, Director of Engineering of Core Developer Web at Google
“JSConf was my introduction to the JavaScript community and remains one of my favorite events. I’m thrilled to see it return alongside OpenJS.” – Lee Byron, GraphQL Co-creator
“JSConf is the original fun, experiential community-driven event and a big part of what makes the JS community amazing. JSConf was the first JS event to introduce a code of conduct, and its single track + parallel open track format, with the nested choose your own adventure day of experiences prevents overload and gives time and reason to connect with the community.” - Dylan Schiemann, CEO at Living Spec, HalfStack organizer, SlateJS maintainer and Dojo Toolkit Co-Creator.
"The next chapter of JSConf begins under OpenJS! If you haven’t been to a JSConf yet, prepare for an unforgettable event that honors both innovation and community." – Abigail Cabunoc Mayes, Senior Program Manager at GitHub and Board Director at the OpenJS Foundation.
"JSConf is more than just a conference—it's a movement and a community. We’re a loose federation of developers who believe in crafting technical events that break the mold. Instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, we empower passionate local communities to push the boundaries of what’s possible with JavaScript, all while fostering deep connections among attendees. I couldn’t be more excited about its return!" – Joe Sepi, Open Technologies Program Director at IBM; CPC Chair and Board Director at OpenJS Foundation.
“JSConf has always been the gold-standard of what a community conference can be: inspiring, engaging, and inclusive. Perhaps the most powerful aspect is how JSConf has reached and impacted the lives of countless developers worldwide by inspiring local conferences and meetups, providing community and connection to developers that normally would be unable to attend if it was merely one event. I’m excited to see it come back under careful stewardship to provide a platform for the next generation of our community to connect and grow.” – Daniel Cousineau, co-organizer EmpireJS Conference
“Now, with the JSConf brand joining the OpenJS Foundation, the potential impact is even greater. This connection brings more resources, visibility, and opportunities for developers, not only in Colombia but around the world. It promises to strengthen the global JavaScript community and support the growth of many developers, opening new doors for collaboration, innovation, and career growth. The future looks bright, with JSConf continuing to be a catalyst for positive change in the tech ecosystem." SConf has played a pivotal role in fostering a vibrant and dynamic tech community in Colombia. Over the past 10 editions, it has not only provided a platform for developers to connect and learn but also empowered local talent by bringing global knowledge and innovation to the region. This consistency in organizing the event has built a sense of belonging and collaboration, helping to elevate Colombia's reputation as a growing tech hub.” – Adrian Estrada, co-organizer of JSConf Colombia.
