We’re happy to welcome one new member on the OpenJS Foundation Board of Directors, and six that were re-elected. Together, they are filling positions on the Gold, Silver and Community level. We are honored to have their expertise at the OpenJS Foundation!
The board sets technical policy, including our mission and vision that shape the overarching scope of foundation initiatives, technical vision, and direction.
According to our bylaws, each Platinum member is entitled to appoint one Director to the board, and the Platinum Directors are eligible to serve as chairperson and vice-chairperson. Gold and Silver members vote among themselves to select their representatives. The Board also includes community representation, with threeCommunity Directors elected by the Cross Project Council (CPC).
These board directors join our Platinum Directors who are appointed by their member organizations: Michael "Max" Maximilien from IBM, Shayne Boyer from Microsoft and Sean Johnson from Joyent.
We’re excited to have Steve join our board as a Silver Director. Capital One has been a great proponent of the Foundation since joining in 2022.
Steve has worked in several greenfield architectures over the course of his 30 years of industry experience ranging from kiosk systems, medical applications, gaming platforms to call-center applications. As a Distinguished Engineer, Steve has led the overall technical direction and architecture of the re-platform of a call-center agent servicing application for credit card servicing at Capital One. Steve drove the migration of the platform from a legacy technical stack and on-premise servers to a high-quality, fully cloud-based, completely federated platform built in Node.js and JavaScript technologies. Steve now works in Capital One's Collaborative Engineering area which includes the Open Source Programs Office, InnerSource Programs Office, and Programming Language Excellence Center. Steve has previously spoken at NodeConf EU, OpenJS World, FINOS externally as well as internally within Capital One on the re-architecting of monoliths to federated micro-frontend/microservice architectures as well as responsible usage of Node.js and open source software at enterprise scale.
We’re grateful to have the following board directors back with us for another term:
Thank you to all of our board directors for their service in supporting the OpenJS Foundation. We look forward to what they will bring to the foundation this year.
