Welcoming FlowForge to the OpenJS Foundation

A low-coding development platform fit for the enterprise, started by the Node-RED co-founder, now a part of the OpenJS Foundation

SAN FRANCISCO – December 13, 2022 – The OpenJS Foundation, providing vendor-neutral support for sustained growth within the open source JavaScript community, is announcing today that FlowForge has joined as a silver member. FlowForge is a startup company that makes Node-RED available for the enterprise, and lets you manage your Node-RED instances all in one place. Node-RED is a programming tool for wiring together hardware devices, APIs and online services. It provides a browser-based editor to combine flows among nodes, and deploy to its runtime with a single-click.

The startup’s mission is to build a low-code development platform fit for the enterprise with Node-RED at its core.

“We are happy to see FlowForge join the OpenJS Foundation,” said OpenJS Foundation Executive Director, Robin Ginn. “Node-RED has been a key JavaScript project within our ecosystem, and we are excited that FlowForge is working to make Node-RED an excellent low-code option for all companies.”

FlowForge is founded by Node-RED co-creator Nick O’Leary. Node-RED remains a fully open source project under the OpenJS Foundation. The OpenJS Foundation is home for critical open source JavaScript projects including Appium, Dojo, Jest, jQuery, Node.js, and more.

“With its roots in IBM, Node-RED has been a foundational technology for developers as they explore what is possible,” said OpenJS Foundation Board Chairperson and Vice President of Open Technology at IBM, Todd Moore. “With FlowForge continuing this mission into the enterprise, it provides developer communities a unique tool to build IoT applications.”
